Decent Work & Safe Labour Programme

Decent Work & Safe Labour — Supporting UN SDG 8

The global e-waste crisis has a human face. Across Asia and Africa, millions of informal workers — including children — dismantle electronic waste by hand, burn cables to extract copper, and use acid baths to recover gold, without protective equipment, without training, and without legal protection.

UN SDG Alignment: SDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic Growth. Target 8.8 — Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers.

The United Nations (2021) documented that 75 to 80 per cent of e-waste generated globally is exported to developing countries — much of it processed by informal workers in hazardous conditions. EWaste Prime is categorically opposed to this exploitation.

EWaste Prime's Decent Work Standards:
Certified Partner Network Only: We partner exclusively with downstream recyclers holding R2v3, e-Stewards, or ISO 14001 certifications — requiring documented worker health and safety programmes.
No Uncontrolled Export: EWaste Prime does not export e-waste to countries where informal processing harms workers. All transboundary movements comply with Basel Convention PIC procedures.
Transparent Supply Chain: Every downstream processor is documented, audited, and disclosed to clients on request.
Workforce Development: EWaste Prime invests in trained, fairly compensated collection and logistics staff in Bangladesh — contributing to formal employment in the green economy.
